About Pennie Brownlee
Pennie Brownlee was a passionate advocate for the well-being of babies, children, and parents. She designed workshops and conferences facilitating significant cultural shifts in personal and professional practices. Pennies was also the author of many articles and three highly acclaimed books published by Good Egg Books. Her primary goal was to promote peace in the world and to bring about cultural change in individuals and teams for positive transformation at an intergenerational level. Pennie's work was deeply influenced by the work of Joseph Chilton Pearce and Emmi Pikler and the teaching tools she acquired from Discovery for Teens, designed by Dr Stephanie Burns and based on SuperCamp. |
Pennie Brownlee - Tangata Tiriti
Pennie understood herself to be He Tangata Tiriti - a person of Te Tiriti o Waitangi, and had a deep respect and commitment to Tangata whenua Māori and Te Ao Māori. She learnt of the harmful impacts of colonisation on Māori, both past and present. This awareness led to her realisation that Te Tiriti o Waitangi is a powerful promise and led her to combine her educational skills to design and facilitate Te Tiriti o Waitangi courses. This fostered relationships with Tangata Māori. She understood the critical role of Pakeha/Tauiwi and her role as a Tangata Tiriti to work towards healing trauma and growing just relationships and systems, especially for Māori whanau and their tamariki but also all citizens. This was woven through her living ways and life work. Na Bronwen Olds, January 2024 He pēnei tonu te pāharakeke i te whānau. The flax is like the whānau (community-family). In the middle grows the rito, te tamaiti, the child blossoms within the caring embrace of the father, mother and whānau. This whakatauki (proverb) speaks to the importance of needing a village to grow a child. It is a collective task not the task of individuals. |
Foundation Vision
Our vision is to hold, honour and continue the work of Pennie Brownlee. Pennie held a holistic vision for peace, which starts with the children and aims to weave the Culture of Kindness into our lives, making the world a safer place for the well-being of all. We aim to keep bringing Pennie's legacy to the people and provide the same high standard of courses and training. And in doing so, continue to positively impact the culture of well-being for the children, parents, carers and communities.
Values
Honouring Pennie
We hold the essence of Pennie in our hearts and bring it to all of our work as we continue her legacy.

Creativity
We protect Pennie's intellectual property while adapting to changing needs.

We are delighted to offer the Pennie Brownlee Foundation Endorsement Programme, a programme that recognises the conferences and courses designed by Pennie and the people who completed Pennie's training programmes.
